honestly, i was afraid that dad would rather do things with a me who wasn't totally out of practice.

in hindsight it was kinda silly.

To you it wasn't silly at the time! And neither is being afraid of something like that.

Maybe you needed that time to realize that it was an unfounded fear, but it wasn't silly!
