Kneeling down to be eye level and rested hands on either side of Sans's face, thumb stroking over a cheek bone idly.]

DOES THAT MATTER, SANS? IF IT'S SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO STILL, ACT UPON IT. ONLY IF YOU TRULY WANT TO, AND IF YOU DON'T IT ISN'T WASTED POTENTIAL.

IT IS YOUR CHOICE, NOTHING MORE AND NOTHING LESS. I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY FOR YOU TO COME DOWN HERE AND WORK ON THINGS AT MY SIDE, BUT ONLY IF YOU WANTED TO.

[Sans's looked around the room once more as he contemplated his father's words.]

[Gaster believed in his little potato bean, grown as he was.]

That, and I'm rather glad we found out what had changed within my room.

[He laughs in that nice deep voice of his.]

a secret lab behind your bookshelf, that's pretty damn cool, dad.

At least no one can accidentally walk into anything being done.

[Slowly pushing himself back up onto his feet, a hand placed against that workbench for a little brace.

Not like he'll be doing something unsafe to be walked in on, right.]

[Not anything solid at least, laughing faintly.]

It's been a while, I would need to start slow. Something small.

[What he describes is... definitely not small by normal standards, but compared to everything else he'd ever done it did count as a baby step?]

[Though it was probably child's play for a scientist of his father's caliber, even with several years of rust.]

What better way to knock some of that rust off? I know it's safe enough.

[Safe enough was right. It wasn't anything dangerous if he did slip a little.]

[There was always a danger when the sort of science they did was involved. It was highly theoretical, after all.]

It can even be left to sit! So I won't spend hours all at once on it.

we should probably make sure everything's in working order before doing anything, first.

That is an excellent idea. It will take some getting to know just how different some of this equipment seems to be as well.

Even if it appears similar to some of the far earlier designs...

[Sans wanders over to one of the machines and begins inspecting it.]

it's all familiar enough that i think i can figure out what everything's supposed to be...

[There were just a lot more gears, each of them helped whatever to function. A few items looked primitive, but upon closer inspection they were quite close to things they'd be used to now.

Strange for sure, but with a little adjusting it was all something that could be gotten used to.

Gaster was inspecting some odd sort of keyboard, fingers brushing over the typewriter-esque keys.]

Nothing that cannot be worked with--

[He was not expecting anything close to a holographic screen to pop up. Nope. Primitive looking? Yes. Actually behind the times? Not quite.

[Sans blinks in confusion.]

[Just a testing press of keys, the corresponding letters appearing there.

I suppose this makes up for a lack of computer screens? The technology here may be lacking, but..

[There went Gaster, moving in for a closer look at all of this to figure out just what this was even.

Something manipulating light in such a way, without a screen, to project images. That would definitely work well in place of a screen.]

there's something... fishy about this place.

[He crosses his arms and furrows his nonexistant eyebrows]

This place is sentient, Sans.

[From behind that console, having reached up briefly to say it.

He'd had a nice long talk with his other self, after all.]

This house! It's alive, a sentient creature of some sort.

The other Gaster mentioned it to me a while ago, is it not common knowledge?
