You know how long Sans has been twenty-five? Entirety too long.]

i just mean that i wanna take things a few months at a time.

worry about gettin' a job and findin' our own place.

Wait, what? Finding our own place...?

Oh my god! We could do that now! We're both going to be employed. And have money again!

yeah, the gasters are moving up in the world.

[He chuckles softly.]

i thought maybe we could get an apartment or flat in the, uh, steam district or something.

[Up in the world, huh?]

Or a loft! A high apartment, full of sunlight... With a little porch! Overlooking the river! Like we used to have.

[Not that the human ever explored it. Not in their unfortunately timeline.]

yeah! i'm sure we'll be able to find somethin' like that.

[He seems really excited about this.]

y'know, i was worried you might not want to move out of the boarding house.

The boarding house is very nice! But I miss the autonomy of our own house.

[It's really precious and Papyrus would be biting his tongue not to comment on it if he had a tongue. Instead he's just resisting the impulse to cheer.]

And I could go without, you know. Being dropped into the flower room again.

maybe we could go house hunting with dad soon, then.

[If he cheers, Sans might get embarrassed! And stop! That would be a real shame.

The best part of back then... with everything we've learned since!

[Sans might not feel good about how he's progressed, in the years since their fathers' retcon, but Papyrus has grown, and experienced a little more of the world. Done his best to keep up his spirits and keep striving. To look out for Sans.

And Sans has kept them afloat where Papyrus' optimism wouldn't have covered the bills, kept supporting his brother's dreams with action figures and costumes and their nightly book-reading ritual...

They've grown up.]

[Yeah, yeah they have.]

Our father keeps saying he's proud of us! I don't think he would just say that.

[He would genuinely sappily mean it everytime.

And they both learned a lot about keeping going when things were hard. Even when they weren't really feeling it.]
