Someone was already heading down those stairs, hand against the wall.
Lord sake Gaster, why.
There was a light source down there, he wasn't worried about walking blindly into something. Well, in one way at least. Some odd sound seemed to echo up from wherever those stairs led.]
[There was a very familiar sound coming from behind it, a visible sort of light source. Gaster had an idea of what it might be, but he didn't want to say incase he could still be wrong-
He patted Sans's shoulder before slowly walking towards that door-]
We are down here, may as well!
[Someone should have a little more cautious hesitation, but nope, Gaster is just pushing that door open and--
... Well, the large gears moving overhead and along the sides answered for some of that sound. Steam hissing from some places, the light source electricity crackling between various devices generated by these things.
Apparently his lab, attached to his room as it was, and Gaster couldn't help but stand there for a few moments. It was almost like the lab he'd always worked in, some of the machines were so very familiar, but it looked as if some things had been turned into something powered by a different sort of steam.
There were doors that led elsewhere, but this... He rested a hand on top of Sans's head, a slight laugh staring up.]
[He was full of mixed emotions, there were so many good things that had happened in the lab, but at the same time... it was where the anomaly was discovered, it was where dad...]
no subject
there's... there's something really weird about this--
[He pulls the book out of the shelf, and there's a distinctive click...]
no subject
Really? It looked as if it was suddenly on some mechanism that caused it to turn like some odd revolving door--]
... Well, that certainly wasn't always like that.
no subject
this certainly isn't suspicious at all.
no subject
[Setting Sans back down after a moment, walking closer as his hand placed against bare wall to peer through the opening there in the wall-
... Well, it went further back and not into the next door room at all.]
There is a stairway that leads downwards.
no subject
[Sans leans into the door.]

[Sans runs down the stairs, slipping on one of the stairs, and landing hard on his tailbone.]
no subject
Okay?
[He's working with one hand here.]
no subject
[He rubs his backside.]
what is this place?
no subject
I'm not sure.
There's a cracked open door in front of us.
[There was a very familiar sound coming from behind it, a visible sort of light source. Gaster had an idea of what it might be, but he didn't want to say incase he could still be wrong-
Time to go investigate!]
no subject
He takes the offered hand and smooths out his hoodie]
welp, i guess we should check it out, then?

THIS IS A LAB.]
no subject
Sans's eyesockets grew wide.]

WELL, WOULD YOU LOOK AT ALL OF THIS...
[Almost everything was there.]
no subject
[He was full of mixed emotions, there were so many good things that had happened in the lab, but at the same time... it was where the anomaly was discovered, it was where dad...]
no subject
[A hand brushed back over Sans's skull before Gaster was stepping further inside, looking over one of the larger tesla coil like devices. Carefully.
There was glass around parts of it at least, housing that electricity being generated. It was primitive and not all at the same time.]
no subject
w-wow.
[He places a hand on the top in shock, and laughs.]
just... wow
no subject
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE ABLE TO STEP INSIDE OF A LAB LIKE THIS AGAIN.
[Soft spoken, drifting along almost as a hand slid over a workbench. Various tools and parts already there, as if they had always been.]
OF COURSE EVEN I WONDER WHY IT'S HERE.
no subject
[For completely different reasons.]
i dunno how it got here, this place is strange.
[And that says a lot, coming from an ambulatory skeleton made of magic.]
no subject
... Even by Void standards.]
It may be interesting to find a few projects to perform here.
[Picking up a few papers from a stack. Huh.
Notes.]
no subject
[There's a nervous laugh.]
i'm, uh, i'm so out of practice, though. i've probably forgotten everything you taught me.
no subject
[He lost count of how long he was ripped apart and spread across so many different timelines.
Things.]
If you wanted, you could re-learn. Or simply come down and spend some time with me if I'm down here.
no subject
of course i want to.
[The "but..." was left unspoken.]
no subject
BAD MEMORIES?
[For a few reasons, spoken in a way to say he understood. So he hoped.
He heard that "but".]
no subject
...
i'm not a scientist anymore, dad.
[But, did that really matter? He still loved science, you could see it in the way his eyelights lit up when the topic of science came up.]
